  • RUFFLES AND FRILLS "THERE'S something so honest-to-goodness and true about them" says designer Jeff Banks speaking with evident pride and affection for his new collection of pure white cotton blouses- "I've had them hanging around the office for weeks and I really like them. "They may have a sort of delicate appearance - like they should be worn with a party skirt - but that's not the main intention. I see them with jeans for Saturday shopping or a pop concert - but they'd go anywhere anytime, wouldn't they? "They're just a very small part of the general feeling of natural things as opposed to synthetic. "Pure cotton, washed with pure soap and a lovely smell of fresh ironing." Sounds like a but of a chore, but with their ruffled frills, full sleeves, pin tacks, and tiny buttoned fastenings - all worked by ladies who once made nighties when ladies wore nighties - they do have a rather special quality. From left to right: £6.50; £6.50; £6.50; £7.75; £7.75 in sizes 10-14. All by Jeff Banks and on sale in two weeks' time. (Newspaper clipping adhered to reverse)
