The photograph features a scene with four figures, three male, one female. Thesiger (Barnwell) is seated in the foreground, the two other men positioned at either side of his chair. The woman (Lewis) stands at the left hand side of the scene. She is shown in profile, her left hand reaching out behind her and pointing towards Thesiger, and her gaze directed towards a point in the distance.
