Photographic portrait of Ernest Thesiger as George Barnwell and William Lugg as Uncle Barnwell in When Crummles Played, at the Lyric Hammersmith, 2nd June 1927. The photograph features a scene in which two men are shown re-enacting a fight. The younger man (Thesiger) is positioned towards the left of the image and is shown in profile. He is wearing a cloak and a mask, and his right arm is upraised as if stabbing the chest of the older man to his right, his left hand resting on the man's shoulder. This figure (Lugg) is shown is three quarter profile, his left arm is upraised, reaching towards his chest, and his gaze is upraised.
