Photographic portrait of Ernest Thesiger as George Barnwell and Miriam Lewis as Mrs. Crummles in When Crummles Played, at the Lyric Hammersmith, 2nd June 1927. The photograph features a scene in which two figures are grouped around a chair. A woman (Lewis) is seated in the chair, her gaze directed downwards and her body is turned slightly away from the man seated on a stool beside her. Her right arm is outstretched however, and her hand is resting on the left hand of the man (Thesiger). His gaze is directed into the distance and his left hand is gesturing towards his heart.
