The scene is dominated by a full length figure of man who stands with his right hand held to his brow, his left hand resting on a plinth behind him. A small boy is shown kneeling at his feet, his arms clasped around the right leg of the standing man. Two further men are visible in the foreground, both kneeling, their gazes directed towards the standing figure.
