Physical description | Print showing a scene from Henry the Eighth. The print features a scene in which Cardinal Wolsey is shown entering the abbey, his head is bowed and he is surrounded by figures, some standing, others kneeling. Positioned in the doorway before Wolsey is another male figure, dressed in robes and with his head uncovered. His arms are outstretched towards Wolsey, as if welcoming him into the abbey. A further small image entitled 'Wolsey refusing to deliver the Great Seal to the nobles' is included below this main image. This second image shows Wolsey, turning his back upon, and walking away from, a group of armed men. |
