Physical description
Print depicting a scene from Zitella!, originally published in the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, August 29th 1874. The print which is printed on a pale green ground and has a circular brass ring attached to the top centre, features an image of garden or courtyard filled with columns which are interspersed with foliage and pots. A male and female figure are positioned in the foreground, the woman, on the left is facing the viewer, her right hand is upraised as if in surprised, her left is by her side, a fan suspended from her wrist. Both she, and the man who stands in profile to her right as wearing costumes inspired by the fashions of the late sixteenth century. The man's gaze is directed towards the background of the image where another female figure is shown floating just above the ground, a staff, with a star on the top in her right hand, and her left hand pointing to the sky.
