This print depicts a scene from Pierce Egan's extremely popular book Life in London: Or, The Day and Night Scenes of Jerry Hawthorne, Esq., and his Elegant Friend Corinthian Tom, published in 1821, illustrated by Cruikshank and dramatised by William Moncrieff at the Adelphi Theatre and Sadler's Wells in 1822. It concerned the adventures of Tom, Jerry and Logic, in their quest to experience low-life London. They are shown here watching the dustman 'Dusty Bob'and African Sal dancing at the East End pub, the All-Max
