1857
The study of flowers was a popular Victorian pastime, spurred on by the rise of leisure reading, especially among women. This book contains humorous hand-coloured engravings by the eminent caricaturist and illustrator J.J. Grandville. The cloth cover and the prints inside show flowers personified as women and dressed in elegant costumes.
