A gold bulak with crescent-shaped ornamentation and pendant gold concave leaflets with a subsidiary smaller crescent pendant and leaflets below. The main element has a mirrored crescent in the centre with a row of green foiled translucent glass beads below with an addition of some green and red glass beads. The fringe of pendant leaflets is attached with fine coils of gold wire and irregular seed pearls. The secondary pendant has a green and red glass stone quatrefoil over a red glass crescent with another fringe of pendant leaflets and seed pearls. Two gold rings soldered to the top of the principal element act as a link and fastener for a thin wire loop to pass through the wearer's septum.

Object history | This nose ring is part of the large donation of Indian folk jewellery from Dr Waltraud Ganguly which was collected over the last few decades before her death in 2015 from dealers in both India and Europe, in parallel with extensive fieldwork she carried out in the Indian Sub-Continent. |
