A gold bulak missing its fastening loop. It has a rounded crescent-shaped gold back plate which is decorated on the front with rows of granulation and twisted wirework with a small triangle of granulation pointing downwards in the middle of the lower edge. The centre of the ornament is filled with a narrow crescent of green enamel spotted with gold which curves round the central portion decorated with an inlay of pale green and more emerald green together with dark navy blue enamels all spotted in a contrasting colour within a pattern of criss-crossing wires and granulation.

Object history | This nose ring is part of the large donation of Indian folk jewellery from Dr Waltraud Ganguly which was collected over the last few decades before her death in 2015 from dealers in both India and Europe, in parallel with extensive fieldwork she carried out in the Indian Sub-Continent. |
