A gold nose ring, nath, made of gold wire with a simple wire loop at the top which has a hook on the left hand side to slot into a double twisted knotted eye made from the other end of the ring. Apart from the undecorated arc at the top of the loop, the nose ring is ornamented with coils of gold wire which are wrapped round the core wire of the nose ring with additional embellishments of a pair of tubular spirals, wrapped coils with finer gold wire, two cage-like lozenge forms of undulating wire and a downward-facing flattened cone of tapering coiled wire in the centre of the lower edge.

Object history | This nose ring is part of the large donation of Indian folk jewellery from Dr Waltraud Ganguly which was collected over the last few decades before her death in 2015 from dealers in both India and Europe, in parallel with extensive fieldwork she carried out in the Indian Sub-Continent. |
Historical context | According to Dr. Ganguly, nose rings of this type were worn by Garasia Rabari tribes women and girls. |
