Two prints of the actor William Phillips, late eighteenth century
Physical description
Two prints of the actor William Phillips. The prints are mounted on dark sugar paper. The print on the left shows Phillips dressed in a full length, comic, costume with pointed ears and playing a cello. The print on the right shows Phillips in profile, he is wearing a full length, comic costume with an integral 'tail'. The suit costumes fits closely to the body and buttons at the centre front and is worn with a wide, circular collar. He is also wearing slippers, one of which is missing. Phillips is shown as if in motion, with his right foot upraised.
