Physical description
Pencil, watercolour and gouache design on Daler Board, by Leon Crossley for a puzzle depicting a troupe of seven musical chimpanzees playing a tambourine, clarinet, guitar, keyboard, maraccas, drums and cymbals, sitting on a platform in the ring of Bertram Mills' Circus, including the back of some heads of audience members in the foreground, rows of seated audience members on the other side of the ring, and their conductor in a blue jacket in front of them. Signed with monogram in the bottom right-hand corner LC. With protective paper attached inscribed 'This is the design for a jig-saw puzzle produced about 1951. The artist was Leon Crossley who has signed it on the reverse side.'
