This sepia photograph was taken during a family trip to Ramsgate in September 1933. It is a walking shot of twin girls, Barbara and Doreen Wilson, age 10 year old and their grandparents taken at the beach. The twins were brought up by their grandparents after the premature death of their mother, shortly after they were born. In the photograph the twins are holding ice-cream cones and are sporting matching outfits of berets, double-breasted blazers, patterned knee-length skirts and T-bar leather shoes. Their grandfather is in a three-piece suit and flat cap and their grandmother wears a woollen overcoat and cloche hat, both are holding umbrellas. The photograph was taken by the seaside photography company ‘The Sunbeam Photograph Ltd’ based in Margate, England.
