Amulet
20th century (made)
Place of origin |
A square sheet of gold with three loops soldered on the top and another on the centre of the lower edge from which is suspended an emerald and a green glass bead terminal. Both sides of the amulet are enamelled, one with the name of Shrinathji in Devanagri script in gold in red translucent enamel on a chased ground, which gives a rippled visual effect within a cartouche. This is centred surrounded by a white enamel ground decorated with peacocks and flowers in red and green. The other side has a circular white medallion with a representation of the feet of Vishnu, known as, vishnupada, within a red frame set on a chased gold ground with red flowers on a chased ground, which is clearly evident in the lower left hand corner where the enamel is damaged and largely missing.
