This hooded christening cape was worn by Susan Greenwood at the age of two, for her christening in 1931. It was made and sold in Paris and has an embroidered light blue and white silk shell with a light blue silk lining, piping and satin ribbons. The hood’s peak is decorated with a blue and white silk tassel. Fitted at the neck, this sleeveless cape is long and falls loosely from the shoulders. The front of the cape is fastened with a satin ribbon and a snap fastener.

Object history | This Christening cape was worn by Susan Greenwood at the age of two, for her christening in 1931. It was bought in Paris for the occasion by her godmother. The cape has been in Susan’s possession ever since and she is now giving it to the V&A Museum of Childhood. RF: 2014/663 |
