Circular hollow two-part anklet in silver, which has a hinge on one side and a screw pin as a fastening on the other side. It is decorated with hollow silver granules applied onto hidden wires in a technique known as gajredar. There are applied silver floral motifs, split either side of the hinge and screw fastening and as smaller floral motifs in the centres of both other sides. There are four projecting tapering mounds of hollow granules applied to the top of the anklet with rows of beaded wire along the top and bottom and vertically in bands next to the fastenings.

Object history | This bracelet is part of the large donation of Indian folk jewellery from Dr Waltraud Ganguly which was collected over the last few decades before her death in 2015 from dealers in both India and Europe, in parallel with extensive fieldwork she carried out in the Indian Sub-Continent. It was bought from the Delhi jewellery dealer, Mahendra, in July 2007 for 250 Euros. |
