Red earthenware covered with a red slip and decorated with white slip and colours under a clear yellowish glaze. Swiss (Langnau), about 1790 to 1810.
Physical description
Depressed globular form with three scroll feet and three attached ring handles. The lid has a four-scrolled finial touched with green and yellow. Painted with scrolls in white slip.

Object history
At the time of acquisition, this sugar bowl was considered to have been made in Heimberg.
There are known examples of this type of sugar bowl (or 'sugar box') from 1798 into the 1830s.
