Object history
This was created by Goncharova for Diaghilev's production of the opera-ballet 'Le Coq d'Or'. With music by Rimsky-Korsakov and choreography by Fokine, it was first shown at the Paris Opera on 21 May 1914, with Tamara Karsavina as the Shemakhan tsaritsa.
