INDIGO SARI DRESS

Draping a sari, especially the pleating, can be a time-consuming task. In this sari dress, designer Rashmi Varma has stitched the pleats and fastened a simple zipper on the side, so that it has the convenience of a fitted garment but plays with the idea of the draped sari. The natural-dyed indigo khadi emphasises the hand-made.

Production
The dress is called 'Bihar'. Quote from Rashmi Varma: 'Geography with personal references - places that i have lived in, traveled to and places of my family's roots are important to me. I am Bihari! The connotation that many people have for Bihar is usually a negative one and this is my playful way of combining it with something I find beautiful and elegant'.
