This sword with its accompanying scabbard and belt (Museum nos IS.2:2-3-2007) was made in Punakha in 1931. They show showing the continuation into the 20th century of an ancient Bhutanese craft tradition. Even today swords are worn on ceremonial occasions by Bhutanese noblemen though the blades are now imported from India.
