Artist/Maker

The “Riri” sandals are from Sophia Webster’s breakthrough collection, and they are typical of her design, being colourful and playful. She is inspired by pop culture and 1970s kitsch and frequently uses patent leather and neon-coloured plastics. Sophia Webster is a graduate of the MA footwear course at the Royal College of Art and received her undergraduate degree from Cordwainers College. Webster worked as a design assistant for London-based shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood before launching her own collection for Spring/Summer 2013. Webster was awarded the 2013 British Fashion Award for ‘Emerging Accessories Designer’. Her feminine designs take inspiration from confectionary, with bright colours and whimsical elements such as flamingos and angel wings.
