During the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1910), a cheollik was a men’s overcoat which was pleated from the waist down to allow ease of movement. In 2014, Kim Young Jin reinterpreted the cheollik as a wrap dress, which quickly became an iconic and much-copied piece. Here the dress is layered with a shorter heori chima (high-waisted skirt) to enhance a feminine silhouette.
