Place of origin |
This ensemble revives the 18th-century hanbok silhouette of a voluminous balloon-shaped chima (skirt) counterbalanced by a slim-sleeved jeogori (jacket). It also reinstates the short and narrow goreum (jacket tie-straps) and a decorative white hyangdae (sash). Kim has refreshed the traditional outfit by using modern fabrics such as the floral Liberty print silk and emerald green organza. As its title suggests, this ensemble embodies a modernised take on hanbok, but one which is inspired by both contemporary materials and historical forms.
