Place of origin

Pen and ink sketch showing several figures, probably for the film On a Clear Day You Can See for Ever. Created by Cecil Beaton, ca. 1970.

Sir Cecil Walter Hardy Beaton, CBE (14 January 1904 – 18 January 1980) was an English fashion, portrait and war photographer, diarist, painter, interior designer and an Academy Award-winning stage and costume designer for films and the theatre.

On a Clear Day You Can See Forever is a 1970 musical/romantic fantasy film directed by Vincente Minnelli (1903-1986). The screenplay, by Alan Jay Lerner (1918-1986), is adapted from his book for the 1965 stage production of the same name. Barbra Streisand played the lead role, Daisy Gamble, who, when undergoing hypnosis, discovers she is a reincarnation of Lady Melinda Winifred Waine Tentrees and is transported back to the Regency period.
