Pen and pastel on card preliminary costume design by Voytek for a servant in William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice, directed by Mike Alfreds, Sheffield Crucible, 1980. The design shows the character in a blue top and trousers, with the word VENICE written in red ink alongside and black ink annotations in three corners. On the reverse side is a sketch of a man with a dark beard and a large hat, swathed in a long cloak and carrying a sword in his left hand.
