Photographs and other forms of reproduction were often collected together in the Museum, each giving the viewer different information about the original. This photograph is from a set bought by Henry Cole from the studio of Fratelli Alinari, a prolific photography firm. It records the original setting for a sculpture of St. George before it was moved inside the Museo Nazionale (Bargello) in Florence. A plaster cast of this figure is on display in the Cast Courts.
