1950s Innovation (Object No. 4)
These mules feature two innovations. The heels have a cantilevered structure. X-Ray analysis has revealed that this was cast in one piece, which was very innovative technology for the time. There is also an elastic bridge, a 'Spring-o-lator', to the insole of the shoe, which keeps the foot firmly inside the mule.(2015) |
