This work is a further example in a series of bookworks produced by Yohei Nishimura which are the result of the artist's experiments of firing objects in a kiln.
In this case the artist has fired a single issue of 'Time' magazine, (vol. 137, no. 13) at extreme temperature. The original work is shrunk, the wrappers are a mixture of white and creamy yellow and the pages are fused together.
Nishimura is interested in the subtle differences in colour produced by this process. 'Books when fired remain in existence and above all remain incredibly beautiful' (artist's statement).
