Copy from Cuype by J. Constable. (Inscribed on the back in pencil. This inscription is possibly in the artist's hand as far as J.C but the name Constable appears to have been completed by another hand.)

In 1818 Constable exhibited at the Royal Academy four landscapes and two drawings, one of the latter being entitled 'Elms' (Probably No. 162 [320-1891] in this Catalogue)
