This medal was given,in silver, to Ministers of State and other dignitaries who were present at Queen Victoria's Jubilee celebration in 1887. In 1897 a bar bearing the date was added and given to those who had received the 1887 decoration. It was awarded to John Charles Robinson (1824-1913), curator, scholar and collector, who worked at the V&A in its earliest days and was a very important figure in the formation of the collections. Robinson was Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures from 1882 to 1901.

Physical description
Circular silver medal, on the obverse a profile portrait of Queen Victoria, crowned, facing left, on the reverse a wreath of roses, thistles and shamrock surmounted by a crown and enclosing an inscription. The medal depends from a blue and white ribbon which is decorated with a silver bar.

This medal was given to J.C. Robinson in 1887, and the bar added in 1897. Robinson was Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures from 1882 to 1901.
