Summer Holiday
Espadrilles were once footwear for Catalonian peasants. The unassuming practical shoes crossed over into beachwear in the 1920s. These sandals, possibly from Hawaii, are early examples of footwear as souvenir from a time when holidaying was becoming more accessible to the middle classes.
