Walter Melville (1875-1937) ran the Lyceum Theatre in partnership with his brother Frederick between 1910-1938. They became particularly known for the spectacular pantomimes which they produced each year.

Both men are glancing up towards Fortune, who soars above them. To either side of her head is the date 1925 in watercolour. A handwritten caption at the base of the sketch reads 'That Fortune smile upon you, and guide you on your way - / Is the heartiest of Wishes from your old friend E.P.K. POET AND PAINTER'. Dated 1925. |
