‘Sun Mad’ dramatises the lethal consequences of pesticides used in commercial grape growing. In place of the famous Sun Maid Raisins logo – the embodiment of Californian sunshine and prosperity – we find the leering face of death. By subverting the brand, Hernandez points out the potential risks to both farmworkers and consumers.
