Place of origin |
This plaster cast is taken from a stone frieze in high relief showing figures of Christ appearing to the three Maries, after his Resurrection. The relief forms part of a series of coloured stone reliefs with scenes from the Passion of Christ on the ambulatory of the cathedral of Notre Dame. The sculptors Pierre de Chelles, Jean Ravy and Jean de Bouteillet are recorded in contemporary documents working on sculpture at Notre Dame, and were probably responsible for these carvings.
