1960s (manufactured)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

After the Second World War, Europe was divided physically and ideologically by a boundary known as the 'iron curtain'. It was split between the Eastern Communist states led by Russia who were members of the Warsaw Pact, and 15 countries led by America who formed NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation). Tanks and troops from both sides formed a sustained and defensive presence along the border between Eastern and Western Europe. Toys reflecting this situation were produced on both sides, this being an example, produced in the USSR, of a real military vehicle used along the border
