David Ziggy Greene is a freelance illustrator who has produced the Scene and Heard column in Private Eye since 2011. He also creates illustrations for Time Out London and the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.
For the 19th April 2013 edition of Private Eye (no. 1338) Greene created Bowie: The V&A's Star Man in response to his visit to the V&A's David Bowie is exhibition. During his three hour visit he made numerous sketches and notes, took photographs and interviewed visitors. The aim of the piece was to depict the less publicised objects on display and convey the experience for those unable to attend.
The final artwork was made up using many of the sketches produced during his visit. The V&A holds four of these original sketches, three layout designs and a signed copy of the final composition.
