John Stephen (1934-2004) is one of the most important designers and retailers in the history of 'Swinging London' fashion. He was amongst the first to respond to the huge potential market for menswear, opening his first Carnaby Street shop in 1957. This tie is a good example of the many flamboyant accessories available for men in the later 1960s.
