Signed LR in pencil on the Japanese tissue on the right and annotated MASSINE LE TRICORNE.
Le Tricorne/The Three-Cornered Hat was choreographed for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes by Lèonide Massine in 1919 to a score by Manuel de Falla and designs by Pablo Picasso was a popular ballet presenting an adaptation of the Spanish play El Corregidor y La Molinera. It was first danced by de Basil's Ballets Russes in 1934.
Shadow puppeteer, Lotte Reiniger (1899-1981) created silhouettes of De Basil’s Ballets Russes for illustrations in periodicals and as souvenirs sold through the book dealer Ifan Kyrle Fletcher.
