Print of actor John P. Kemble (1757-1823), in the title role of Hamlet the image is a print of an original painting by the artist Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830) and shows Kemble as Hamlet standing at the Grave of Yorick, ca.1801.

John Philip Kemble was one of the greatest Shakespearean actors of his generation. He and his sister, the actress Sarah Kemble Siddons (1757-1831) were the subjects of numerous portraits throughout their careers and were portrayed both in character and as themselves.
