Gallery label | This is a view of the garden at Stourhead. It was planned by the owner, Henry Hoare the Younger, together with an architect, Henry Flitcroft between 1741 and 1772. The house at Stourhead is entirely detached from the garden, and it is the garden that has always attracted visitors. Garden and architecture meet in the classical temples set around the central lake.(2005) |
