Drawing in sepia ink over pencil with some corrections in white gouache. A badger in shoes, trousers and coat sits with his back turned three-quarters away from the viewer. He waves a cigar in his right fore-paw. A large rotund rabbit in a jacket and waistcoat sits opposite him with a pipe in his right fore-paw. Both are sitting on the floor. Fireplace with lit fire and cauldron to the left. Vegetables hang from the ceiling back right. Corrections most visible in centre of page. Contained within a heavy sepia ink frame.

Object history
Given by Leslie Linder (1904-1973) to the National Book League (now the Book Trust) in 1970 as part of a representative selection of Beatrix Potter's work. This selection, comprising 279 drawings and 38 early editions and now known as the Linder Collection, was formerly on long-term loan to the Victoria and Albert Museum between 1989 and 2019 form the charitable trust, The Linder Trust.
