Artist/Maker | |
Place of origin |
From green catalogues. Mahogany mirror on stand. A semi-circular box resting on three bun feet with gadrooning, two at the back extremeties and one in the front centre. The curved front of the box section is elaborately moulded; its interior, but for the top, is lined with a light wood. The front of the top is a hinged lid; in the back centre is a column which extends through the top into a white painted cylinder at the back of the box section. Above this the column is decorated with turned bulbs and mouldings enclosing a tapering shaft. Ther topmost bulb has a wooden screw with a bulbous end which when turned locks or releases a brass support which can thus swivel from side to side. The brass support has at the top a second adjustable screw mechanism which supports the mirror and allows it to be adjusted in a vertical or horizontal direction. The oval mirror has a simply moulded frame.
