Robert Raikes is an artist and sculptor famous for his series of wooden faced bears made by the Applause company in the States during the 1980s. Raikes made and sold dolls and bears privately before approaching Applause. Each bear he designed is hand numbered with Raikes' signature on the left foot. Applause made the bears for a few years before Raikes took back control of their production.
