Lego means play well from the Danish words Leg Godt. In 1932 Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter and joiner, founded a carpentry business at Billund in Denmark, making ladders, ironing boards and wooden toys. The toys were particularly successful and the company adopted the name LEGO in 1934. The plastic building brick system was launched in 1955 and the stud and tube coupling system was patented in 1958.
Lego was one of the major toy companies granted a licence to produce Harry Potter toys. Hagrid's Hut was first produced in 2001 and again in 2004. This version is from 2010 and contains substantially more pieces than the predecessors, including an innovative light brick.
