This Clown is part of two sets made and used by the Punch professor Edward Charles Webb of Stepney who usually performed his shows in Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Essex and Hertfordshire. He had two sets of figures and booths because his son and his son-in-law both worked shows.

Brief description
Glove puppet of a white-faced Clown made and used by the Punch & Judy professor Edward Charles Webb (1890-1961). Carved and painted wood and fabric. English, probably 1930s or 1940s. Given by Mrs. Linda Cooper.
Physical description
Glove puppet of Clown with carved and painted face and hands, and rabbit fur hair. He has painted eyes and wears a red, yellow and pale blue striped and patterned cotton robe and a white cotton ruff trimmed with red, white and blue braid.
