The glove puppet Sooty was a star of entertainer Harry Corbett’s live magic shows and first appeared on television in 1955. An early companion was the dog Sweep and they were joined in 1964 by the panda Soo. More characters were later introduced, among them Scampi, Sooty's young cousin.

Yellow plush unjointed bear in a standing position with arms raised. It is wearing red dungarees with yellow buttons that are velcroed on. The front paw pads are a beige colour. The nose is solid black felt and eyes orange and black plastic. The ears are black. It is filled with polyester beans.
