After the 'Velvet Revolution' and Vaclal Havel's election as President of Czechoslovakia, the public needed reminding that the real work of changing and sustaining a new political system was only was just beginning. The fledgling Civic Forum, symbolised by the baby, needed popular support in the forthcoming parliamentary elections if freedom and democracy were to be secured for the country.
