These lengths of fabric were worn during the 1870s by H. D. Noel Paterson, probably as a set of braces. Paterson was raised in Scotland and grew up to become vicar of a number of different churches, and the outfit was passed down the family.

This outfit was worn by the donor's Great-Grandfather, Canon H. D. Noel Paterson in the 1870s for church, and has been passed down throughout the family. It was also worn by the donor's Mother during the 1940s.
